The feast of St. Maria Goretti on July 6, 2022, was a special celebration in the Sacred Heart Province as the Sisters witnessed with joyful gratitude the First Profession of Sr. Marjorie Mabaquiao Laurio. Sr. Marjorie who hailed from San Juan, Batangas is the eldest of 10 children of Mr. Mario and Mrs. Jocelyn Laurio.
The Eucharistic Celebration was presided at 2:30pm by Fr. Aldrin Suan, CM together with other guests priests – Fr. Bert San Diego, OFM Cap., Fr. Jao Leoveras, FdCC, and Fr. Ralph Jayson Santos, FdCC. Sr. Marjorie professed her vows in the hands of Sr. Lilia Nuesca, Provincial Leader with the theme – Narito ang Lingkod mo, Panginoon, Pagtalima sa Iyo ang aking Tugon”. This is her generous response to the call of the Greatest Love that she experienced in her life and during her formation years which was amplified by Fr. Aldrin in his homily on the seed that falls into the ground to die in order to bear fruit. There was a joyful and prayerful atmosphere, enlivened by the Sisters’ choir. Sr. Lilia together with all the Sisters welcomed her to the Institute and thanked everyone as well for the presence and prayerful wishes for Marjorie. The Sisters of Lipa community were jubilant when Sr. Lilia announced that Sr. Marjorie will join their community.
Due to pandemic protocols, there was limited face-to-face participation on this happy occasion among relatives, friends, and Sisters from different communities but the celebration was live-streamed via Novitiate Facebook, allowing different Canossian communities, her other relatives, and friends here and abroad to witness the event.
