Who We Are

Daughters of Charity, Servants of the Poor

We are called to contemplate, experience and share the unconditional love of the Father for every person; love that is expressed to the full in the “most loving, most generous and most patient spirit” of the Son who gave His life freely for all.

We share in the saving mission of Jesus, seeking to take on the same traits of charity, gentleness, humility, meekness, zeal and fortitude; we follow the example of Mary, Mother of Charity at the foot of the cross.

Our Ministries

By virtue of our Baptism and religious consecration we participate in the church’s mission through our specific charism of Daughters of charity, Servants of the Poor. (RL No. 50)
Education

We commit ourselves to our works of charity to remove the obstacles that every man and woman have full access to the goods of life, above all to life’s meaning and destination. The poor, in particular, seem to be excluded from this participation: “we owe them all our attention, labor, care and thoughts”

Evangelization

“Jesus is not loved because He is not known”. We are convinced that there is “no act of charity as perfect as that of helping our neighbour to love God” therefore, we spend ourselves with untiring generosity in the various forms of evangelization…

Pastoral Health Care

We continue the loving attention of Magdalene for the sick, the living images of Christ himself, and we are ready if necessary to expose our lives in the exercise of holy charity. We visit the sick to assist and comfort them, with respect for their own beliefs, helping them to understand the redemptive value of suffering…

Formation of the Lay

To promote the “spread of the Glory of God” we form lay people, called by God to dedicate themselves to the apostolate, especially in the field of education, catechesis and charitable works so that they may become guides and animators in the ecclesial community and in society…

Special Ministries

Imitating Magdalene, a ‘prophet of her time’, the expert in reading the signs of the times and the innovator of fresh and suitable responses to new emerging needs, we too are attentive to listen, with an open heart and outstretched hands, to the new demands made by society within every culture…

Our Projects & Campaign

"WE OWE THE POOR ALL OUR ATTENTION, LABOR, CARE AND THOUGHTS"

“I recommend to you my beloved poor” was the parting words of our Mother Foundress, St. Magdalene of Canossa, before she left for the Father’s house in 1835.

Since the beginning of the presence of the Canossian Sisters in the Philippines in 1954, the Sisters have always been committed to respond where the needs of human promotion were most urgent especially the poor in the different communities where they are through education, evangelization and health services.

They have been doing this with the help of generous lay persons who share their talents and financial resources to sustain our projects with the poor. We invite you to support these projects. Help us promote the well- being of the poor by making them know and love Jesus, that they become self-reliant through education and good health.

Be one with us for the sake of Christ present in the poor.

Our Projects & Campaign

Give Hope. SHARE your Blessings.
Support our advocacies for the poor.

Pastoral Care of the Sick

The Canossian Sisters provide services that integrate human and spiritual formation to make Jesus known and loved.

Help us restore hope in their lives. Share your blessings and join us!

Orphanage

Each child has a story, often of abandonment and neglect. Help us build their lives.

Become a Mission Partner and make a difference in the lives of the children at Balay Canossa.

Scholarship

The Congregation aspires to prophetically pursue its mission of ‘the formation of the heart’ through formal education for the service of family, community, church, nation, and mother earth.

We knock at your generous heart for financial support! Help us send them to school!

Cabuyao Pre-School

It is a prophetic gesture in responding to the needs of poor children in Laguna province. As St. Magdalene of Canossa envisions “Education produces more fruit as the behavior of a person in life usually depends on the education received.”

It will provide children who are 5 years old with a safe school campus conducive to learning and offer quality preparation for elementary education. We need your help to send the poor children to school.

Elderly Canossian Sisters

Many sisters are now aging, some residing in the Hiyas House for the elderly, while others remain in active communities. As they can no longer support themselves through their work, they need financial assistance.

Let us support these Sisters in their health care needs in gratitude for their loving service.

Pastoral Care of Vocations

Canossian pastoral care of vocations embraces and spans all the branches of charity and calls us, as faith educators, to be attentive to adolescents and young people by concerning ourselves with their growth.

The main aim of Canossian Pastoral Care of Vocation is to lead teenagers ang young adults in a journey of human growth and in as experience of faith and encounter with the Lord Jesus, helping them to re-read their lives through the lens of vocational and missionary experiences.

Stages of Formation

1. ASPIRANCY

It is the stage when the aspirant, in search and attracted by the love of God, expresses her desire to begin a responsible journey in order to know God’s plan in her life, remaining open to dialogue and feedback.

2. POSTULANCY

It is the stage when the postulant is helped to nurture the human and Christian growth seen in her personal relationship with the Lord.

3. NOVITIATE

It is the period of integral initiation to the Canossian religious life. Therefore, it is a special time when the novice begins to center her existence on Jesus Crucified with Mary at the foot of the Cross.

4. JUNIORATE

It is the period of Temporary Profession whereby the Junior Sister is called to interiorize and integrate the values she has learnt, to consolidate her own charismatic identity and prepare herself for her Final Profession.

5. ON-GOING FORMATION

The years after perpetual profession are a time of on-going formation. It is a journey which embraces the whole of our existence and involves the whole person, heart, mind and will.
