Canossian Daughters of Charity

August 15, 2024

On August 15, 2024, the Canossian Sisters of the San Juan and Hiyas communities, led by the Provincial team, gathered with hearts full of hope and thanksgiving to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Mary into heaven. The celebration was made even more joyful as they welcomed two new sister-novices into their fold: Joy Lamod from the Philippines-Papua New Guinea Province, and Yvonne Yip from the Singapore-Myanmar Province. With courage and faith, these women have taken a significant step forward in discerning their personal vocations. Their heartfelt “yes” mirrors Mary’s unwavering commitment to God, embodying the strength that comes from trusting in His words and deeds, even amid life’s challenges.

This sacred day serves as a profound reminder of Jesus’ promise of eternal life to all who believe and trust in Him. The Assumption of Mary, a powerful symbol of faith, inspires both the humble and the poor—our Foundress’ beloved—and the powerful alike to make a meaningful difference in the world.

As the Canossian Sisters continue their journey toward holiness through faith and service, they find renewed inspiration in Mary’s discipleship. With deep gratitude, they lift their hearts in thanksgiving to God, confident that Mary and their Foundress, St. Magdalene, intercede for the precious gift of these two novices to the Institute. Together, they walk forward, hand in hand, united by faith and love.
